Fruit body
The Polyozellus atrolazulinus resembles to Polyozellus multiplex; it can, however, reach a much larger size: 6-14 cm in height by 10-29 cm in diameter.
Cap
Its coloring is a striking shiny blue when growing; old specimens are duller and difficult to distinguish from the Blue Chanterelle.
Margin
Margin wavy or lobed, pale purple blue to whitish, dull with age.
Hymenium surface
Fruiting surface pale to moderate greyish blue purple; decurrent wrinkles on the stipe, sometimes reticulated or almost poroidal.
Stalk
Stipe full, dark purple blue, fused in groups at the base forming a cluster.
Flesh
Its flesh is purple blue.
