Cap
Small brown mushroom. Cap yellow-brown, orange-brown or reddish brown, glabrous or fibrillose, sometimes rimose at maturity.
Margin
Even.
Tubes
Adnate.
Pores and Pore Surface
Pore surface dull cinnamon to reddish-brown in age, immutable or browning slighty when bruised; pores large, 0,5-2 mm wide.
Stalk
Equal to tapered toward the base, pale yellow outside near the base and inside the stalk.
Stalk Feature
Punctate with red-brown dots or marks on a pale yellow base.
Flesh
Peppery flavour. Reddish flesh above the tubes, sometimes brownish or pale yellow.
Basal Mycelium
Yellow.
Chemical reactions
FLESH: accentuation of the yellow color with KOH and NH4OH. CAP-STIPE: towards dark brown with KOH and NaOH. TUBES: towards dark brown, except for FeSO4 and phenol.
Comments 
The fruitbodies can be dehydrated and used as a condiment.
