This medium-sized Amanita fruits throughout the summer mainly under hardwood deciduous trees including oaks and beeches, in the presence of hemlock; into the boreal forest in birch and larch stands.
Cap
Whitish cap, yellowish in the center, decorated with whitish velar flakes.
Margin
Strongly lined.
Gills
Free to press on the stipe, crowdy, whitish with flaky edges. Shorts gills truncated.
Stalk
White, hairless or with fine fibrils.
Ornements du pied
Stipe ulbous-rounded; a small white rim distinctly forms a collar at the top of the bulb.
Flesh
White, thin.
Chemical reactions
Few reactions with chemicals except a weak reaction towards pale beige on the stipe with HOK, NaOH and Feso4, as well as a strong reaction towards brown with phenol.
