Habitat
It fructifies in open areas, mainly with birch and poplar trees, but also conifers.
Fruit body
Its color and the fact that it leaves a powder on the hands when it is handled are criteria that allow it to be identified with certainty.
Cap
Pinkish orange to salmon, covered with powdery and yellow velar remains. The cap and the gills discolour with age
Margin
Shortly lined, often appendiculated.
Gills
White to yellowish with a darker powdery edge.
Stalk
Pale yellow, powdery in places. The partial veil leaves a fleeting ring on the stipe. The stipe is slightly bulbous.
Flesh
White to yellowish.
Chemical reactions
No effects of chemicals on the cap, stipe, gills or flesh, except phenol which stains brown or blackish-brown on the flesh, cap and stipe.
