Yellow to dark brown or greenish-brown, eften darkest at the center.

Pores and Pore Surface
Pore surface yellow staining orange-yellow or orange-brown when bruised or in age; pores circular to angular, 1-2 per mm.
Stalk
Nearly equal to tapered downward.
Stalk Feature
Yellow, strongly reticulate along its entire length.
Flesh
Yellowish, immutable.
Chemical reactions
FLESH: towards brown (then discoloration) with KOH, NaOH and NH4OH; no reaction with FeSO4; towards yellow with phenol and formalin. CAP-STIPE: towards brown with KOH, NaOH and NH4OH; little change with FeSO4, phenol and formalin. TUBES: towards black with KOH, NaOH and NH4OH; to gray with FeSO4; yellowish bordered black with phenol; little change with formalin
