Habitat
It can be found in late summer or in autumn under conifers or deciduous trees.
Fruit body
Médium to large size, robust. The distinctive feature of this amanita is having the underside of the secondary veil of an orange color.
Cap
Blackish at first then dark burn and pale yellowish brown at maturity, bare or decorated with whitish, yellowish to brownish gray flakes.
Margin
Even, not lined.
Gills
White.
Stalk
White, equal to enlarged downward, glabrous to finely fibrillous, to fibrillous, longitudinally streaked.
Stalk Feature
The underside of the secondary veil is of an orange color, the upper side of the secondary veil is gray and the bulb is attenuated upwards.
Flesh
White.
Chemical reactions
Color of the flesh beige with FeSO4 and purplish black with phenol. No reaction of chemicals on the cap except for a purplish black stain with the phenol.
