It fruits from July to September in deciduous hardwood forests.
Fruit body
This chanterelle is characterized by its stipe and the center of its cap which are in shades of brownish orange.
Cap
1.5 to 6 cm across; broadly convex to flat or shallowy depressed, the disk not perforated, bald or nearly so, often somewhat wrinkled, especially over the center, brown overhal at first but soon developing yellow undertones becoming yellow and yellowish brown in the center.
Margin
Irregular and wavy margin.
Hymenium surface
Well-developed, closey spaced false gills that run down the stem, yellow to yellowish orange, often developing cross-veins with maturity.
Stalk
2-6 cm long X 3-11 mm thick, slender, equal or tapering domnward, bald, brownist to brownish yellow or yellow, partially hollowed.
Flesh
The color of its flesh ranges from white to buff or pale yellowish brown.

Basal mycelium white.
