100% hardwood. On the wood of many deciduous trees or shrubs. It can develop on living shrubs, such as the Staghorn sumac, which leads to death after a few years.
Chapeau
Small, tomentose to mealy. White to grey, sometimes turning brown. Small fruiting bodies grouped together, but separated from each other.
Margin
Wavy, hairy, incised and lobed.
Gills
Spaced, white to greyish, downy at first and with a ridge divided in two longitudinally at maturity.
Stalk
Present as a lateral attachment point.
Flesh
Thin, greyish.
Comments 
This little mushroom is very widespread throughout the world and is easy to recognize. Its main characteristic is that its gills open in two during the ripening of the fruitbodies. It rot the wood in deciduous trees, but it can also be a pathogen and kill several shrubs, even ornamental ones.
