Fruit body
Slender and of medium size.
Cap
Gray, brownish to reddish brown.
Margin
Incurved to even, sometimes lobed.
Tubes
Adnate.
Pores and Pore Surface
Yellow, immutable. Pores angular, 1 to1,5 per mm.
Stalk
Equal to enlarging downward.
Stalk Feature
Deeply and coarsly reticulate.
Flesh
White to yellowish, immutable.
Basal Mycelium
White.
Chemical reactions
On the stipe, no reaction. On the other hand, the color of the flesh varies according to the specimen studied for KOH and NaOH, and also according to the part of the flesh where the chemical reagent is applied. The two fruitbodies studied here were collected from the same place, about 10 m apart.
Comments 
We believed that the reaction to chemicals was a "foolproof" criterion for separating species from each other. We have to admit that this is not always the case.
