Cap
Colour purplish-red at first, becoming brownish-pink with age.
Margin
Even.
Tubes
Adnate, depressed near the stalk.
Pores and Pore Surface
Pore surface rose-red when young, becoming rose-pink in age. Pores, large, angular, labyrinthine, 1-2 per mm.
Stalk
Nearly equal or enlarged downward, red or reddish initially to yellow-red later.
Flesh
Whitish to yellowish in the cap, yellowish in the stipe, immutable.
Chemical reactions
FLESH: towards yellow in the cap and the stipe with NaOH and in the stipe with KOH.
CAP-STIPE: towards yellow with KOH and NaOH on the cap and the stipe.
