Identifying Your Polypores
Habitat
Woody debris, rotten wood, often under hemlocks.
Cap
Bluish-grey on all parts of the fruiting bodies.
Tubes
Round to angular; pores clearly visible, 2 to 3 per mm.
Pores and Pore Surface
Indigo blue to grey, decurrent.
Stalk
Simple or branched on a common basis. Smooth and often cross-linked by decurrent pores.
Flesh
Cream turning grey when cooked.
