Under oaks and beech tree, sometime on lawns.
Cap
Brownish and strongly cracked.
Margin
Concolorous with the cap.
Tubes
Long, depressed near the stalk, whitish at first, brownish in age.
Pores and Pore Surface
Pore surface whitish, browning in age or when bruising; pores circular.
Stalk
Middle of stalk wider.
Stalk Feature
White scabers near the apex, darker toward the base.
Flesh
Whitish to pale yellow staining gray or gray-blue or brown when cut, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly (15-30 min.).
