Habitat
In many habitats, preferably on sandy soils, in the presence of shrubs or deciduous trees, but also of conifers, often in the same habitats as the black morel. The False Morel fructifie in spring, at the end of May and at the beginning of June, and this far to the north in the boreal forest.
Fruit body
Caps in various shades of brown, hollow, more or less rounded with numerous convolutions making them look like a brain.
Stalk
Cream to pale brown.
Flesh
Thin, crumbly, white to pale brown.
Comments 
This mushroom has been consumed and is still consumed and marketed on a large scale. However it can cause significant digestive disorders for some people: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, intense fatigue. Many cases heal within a few days. If the poisoning is severe, there may be an attack on the liver, neurological and renal disorders which can lead to death. However, other people have consumed it extensively for decades without experiencing any of these symptoms which appear 6 to 12 hours after consumption.
