Habitat
On lawns or grassy areas. It is a mushroom which develops in a fairy circle whose diameter increases each year and can form an imposing circle after 20 or 30 years.
Fruit body
Small parasol-shaped mushroom.
Cap
Flat cap and broadly umbone when mature, darker in the center, in various shades of brown, paling with age.
Margin
Margin curved at first, raised and wavy with age.
Gills
Unequal gills with lamellae, interveined or not, moderately numerous to more or less spaced, whitish to yellowish white.
Stalk
Straight, even, sometimes a little bulbous, with firm flesh, stiff as a toothpick, pale yellowish brown. You can twist it without it breaking.
Flesh
White to yellowish white flesh. Only the cap is edible; once dried, it takes on a nutty taste.
Comments
It is not always recommended to pick them because lawns contain unwanted elements from residues left by dogs, cats, lawn mowers, human activities and sometimes pesticide residues. The seeds collected during contract mowing allow it to be sown on neighboring lawns.
