Habitat
Small urban forest made up of deciduous trees, mainly sugar maples, a few ash trees, a few elms, some American lime trees. Two specimens growing on the ground.
Fruit body
Fruitbody of medium size, in certain aspects which may suggest that it is a polypore.
Cap
Pale rust-brown cap, finely cracked, with a plain surface.
Margin
Even.
Tubes
Short, decurrent, pale gray.
Pores and Pore Surface
Surface pale gray; rectangular pores similar to those found in certain polypores.
Stalk
Yellowish, full, smooth, slightly enlarged at the base and apex.
Stalk Feature
Stipe without any particular ornamentation.
Flesh
Immutable white flesh after 20 minutes.
