Cap
Dark brown, slightly zoned, fibrillous from the centre to the margin, depressed in the centre.
Margin
Margin pale, straight or wavy, sterile below.
Pores and Pore Surface
Surface of the tubes more or less dark, sterile under the margin which is paler.
Tubes
Angular, large, 1-2 per mm, more irregular with age.
Stalk
Central, dark brown, rugged.
Flesh
Dark brown to reddish-brown.
