Brown funnel polypore

Common
Habitat
Deciduous undergrowth, more rarely coniferous. Annual.
Cap
Often depressed in the centre, velvety-tomentose, narrowly zoned from cinnamon to dark brown.greyish with age.
Margin
Thin, sometimes incised, narrowly sterile below, pale in growth.
Pores and Pore Surface
Pores round to angular, large, 2 to 4 per mm, thin-walled, incised with age. Pore surface golden brown at first, cinnamon to dark brown with age, decurrent.
Stalk
Rust to dark brown, even, enlarged towards the base.
Stalk Feature
Felt towards the base.
Flesh
Bruin rusty, paler towards the upper surface.
Comments 
Larger in size and more common than cinnamon polypore. Still present in the field the following spring. When growing, all the outer parts of the fruiting bodies are paler than those of Coltricia cinnamomea.
