Cap
Reddish brown to olive brown, quickly cracked, reddish in the cracks.

Even.
Tubes
Adnate, long to very long, depressed near the stalk.
Pores and Pore Surface
Pore surface yellow at first, olive-yellow or brown in age, staining blue when bruised, sometimes slowly; pores irregular, 1 mm wide.
Stalk
Equal to tapered toward the base.
Stalk Feature
Yellow at the apex, purplish-red at the base, sometimes with ridges but non reticulate.
Flesh
White in the cap, turning yellow in age, staining blue when cut, reddish in the stalk.
Basal Mycelium
White.
Signature chimique
Towards beige on the flesh with KOH and NaOH; no reaction on the cap and towards black on the tubes for all chemical reagents.
