Blackish appearance with numerous black scales on a greyish background between the scales.

Appendiculate with grayish pieces of partial veil.

Adnate, depressed near the stalk.
Pores and Pore Surface
Pore surface white when young, soon gray and finally black. Staining reddish when bruisshed. Pores circular to angular, 1-3 per mm.
Stalk
Equal,sometimes enlarged toward the base.
Stalk Feature
Numerous black scales decorate its stalk, grayish and reticulate at the apex.
Flesh
Nearly white, quickly staining orange-red to orange when cut.
Comments 
When young, some authors says it is edible.
