Cap
Not spreading, lateral or central attachment, sometimes rosette-shaped. Furrowed, furnished with numerous grey, cream and brownish areas. Velvety to hairy.
Margin
Whole, pale in growth, sometimes lobed.
Gills
Blades white to greyish, straight at first, wavy as they age, 10-15/cm.
Hymenium surface
Pores absent, even at a young age.
Flesh
White and paler than the blades.
Comments 
Surprisingly, the fruiting surface is made up of gills which become sinuous with age. You can find it on a very large number of species of deciduous trees or shrubs and rarely on conifers.
