In the boreal forest, along a forest road. Forest predominantly of jack pine and black spruce.
Fruit body
Cap similar to Leccinum piceinum.
Small fruitbody, 5.5 cm high x 2.2 cm wide.
Cap
Brick red cap with a plain surface.
Margin
Even.
Tubes
Yellow, adnate, not depressed near the stipe.
Pores and Pore Surface
Yellow; the fruitbody is too young to see the pores of tubes.
Stalk
Full, equal, slightly widened at the base. 5 cm high X 1 cm thick.
Stalk Feature
Stipe concolor to the cap, but paler in color, finely reticulated.
Flesh
Flesh whitish, reddish under the cuticle.
