Habitat
Small park in Shawinigan-Sud. Presence of several white birch trees in the park and mixed forest all around.
Fruit body
Stocky fruiting body, medium size, 5.5 cm high by 9 cm wide for the cap.
Cap
Brown cap, pale brown at the margin, plain, smooth surface.
Margin
Even.
Tubes
Olive, 1.3 cm long, depressed near the stipe, immutable.
Pores and Pore Surface
Olive-yellow, immutable ; round pores, more or less regular, 1.5 per mm.
Stalk
Straight, thick, equal, 4 cm high x 1.5 cm wide.
Stalk Feature
Reddish stipe, paler at the apex, marked with lines or roughness in places.
Flesh
White to pale yellow, turning blue or red in places in the cap, red in the stipe and insect galleries.
