Habitat Area
Under hardwoods, especially oaks, reported under pines.
Cap
Whitish when young, sometimes ochraceous to tan, developing brownish to pinkish tinge in age, surface often wrinkled.
Margin
With a narrow band of sterile tissue.
Tubes
Adnate.
Pores and Pore Surface
Pore surface white, pinkish in age, staining brownish when bruised; pores circular to angular, 1-2 per mm.
Stalk
Clavate to subbulbous.
Whitish, developping brownish stains in age.
Stalk Feature
Whitish, developing brownish stains in age, weakly to distinctly reticulate.
Flesh
White, slowly staining brown when cut.
