Pores and Pore Surface
Pore surface whitish, becoming yellow or greenish yellow in age, staining blue when bruised, but sometimes immutable; pores circular to angular, 1-2 per mm.
Stalk Feature
Whitish and smooth, often developing brownish streaks, especially toward the base, sometimes yellow or slightly reticulate at the apex or expandind downward.
Flesh
Flesh white to pale yellow, unchanging or slightly bluish when cut; more rarely turning, in whole or in part, towards yellow or blue.
Chemical reactions
FLESH: no reaction, except towards greenish gray with FeSO4 and towards purplish with phenol.
CAP: to beige with KOH, NaOH and NH4OH; towards brown on the cap with the phenol. For KOH and NaOH, the color changes from beige to orange to dark brownish.
TUBES: towards beige with KOH and NaOH; to gray with FeSO4; towards white with phenol and towards gray-blue with formalin.
There are differences between young and old fruiting bodies.
